MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police have identified the body that was found in the basement of a home on Timmer Lane Thursday morning after an overnight fire as 62-year-old Dennis Radford.

Police said Radford was in the process of being evicted.

Mount Pleasant police and the South Shore Fire Department are investigating the cause of the fire.

A viewer tells us the blaze could be seen from Highway 20.

Emergency crews were called around 2:00 this morning, and police said the home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
