Monday saw another round of heavy rain across southeast Wisconsin. Thankfully the areas with the heaviest rain stayed mostly away from the spots that saw historic flooding two weekends ago. Monday afternoon Walworth County was under a flash flood warning after over 3" fell in just a few short hours. Southern Waukesha County also saw heavy rain from 1-3". The rest of southeast Wisconsin saw a good soaking rain with most getting over a half inch of rain.
The rainfall we picked up in Milwaukee on Monday puts our August rainfall total at the airport to 8.86" which is the second most August monthly rainfall on record. We are just two tenths of an inch behind the record August rainfall set in 1987 just over 9". That record could easily be broken by the end of the month.
A few more showers are possible throughout the day Tuesday and Wednesday. The chance looks pretty isolated on Tuesday and a rumble of thunder can't be ruled out. A light shower chance has been slowly increasing for Wednesday. It's not on the 7-day yet but if it continues to trend a little wetter it might need to be added.
Any rain that we do get Tuesday and Wednesday would be pretty light with under a tenth of an inch of rain over the next 36 hours.
