Fire engulfs Sheboygan apartment building, residents evacuated safely

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A fire reportedly broke out at an apartment building on Hillshire Drive in Sheboygan, causing alarms to sound and smoke to fill the building on Tuesday, May 2 at around 6:20 a.m.

The Sheboygan Fire Department issued a release in which they noted a prompt response to the scene, arriving within four minutes to find the blaze originating from a second-story porch and spreading to the interior.

Crews reportedly forced entry into the apartment, extinguished the fire and conducted a search to ensure all occupants were safely evacuated.

Firefighters remained on site to check for hot spots and complete overhaul.
