Flags to fly at half-staff Oct. 4 in honor of DNR forester Adam Zirbel

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Gov. Tony Evers has ordered U.S. and Wisconsin flags to be flown at half-staff Saturday, Oct. 4 in honor of Adam Zirbel, a Department of Natural Resources senior forester who died Sept. 22 while working. He was 48 years old.
Zirbel, born and raised in Wisconsin, served as a forester and wildland firefighter for 24 years.
Most recently he worked at Kettle Moraine State Forest’s Northern Unit, where he helped plant millions of trees, managed timber sales and mentored young foresters. He also served on state incident management teams, responding to wildfires, floods and other emergencies.
Services will be held Saturday in DeForest and Middleton. Executive Order #276 says flags are to remain at half-staff from sunrise to sunset, and the full order can be read below:
