MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As the school year comes to a close, students at Augustine Prep got a special visit from a Milwaukee Brewers All-Star.
Ryan Braun met with students to take a swing at the "summer slide," or the educational loss that comes with summer, when kids can forget last year's lessons.
Sharp Literacy partnered with Braun and the Brewers Community Foundation to read with 5th grade students in the school's gym.
Braun says it's an honor to help kids find excitement in their education.
"The more people who can tell them and encourage them to focus on education, focus on reading the better," Braun said. "Regardless of what you end up doing in life, I think that reading is an outlet for all of us, that's inspiring and motivating and for me to be able to share that story today is something that I'm excited to have the opportunity to do."
Besides reading with the students, Braun spoke to them about the importance of reading and held a Q&A session with them.
Braun will be inducted into the Brewers Walk of Fame later this year.
