Former Milwaukee County bus driver sentenced to 4 years for deadly Christmas night crash
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A former Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus driver was sentenced Thursday, March 12, in a deadly 2024 crash.
Fifty-three-year-old Montrell Pharm pleaded no contest in January to charges of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and reckless driving causing great bodily harm.
He was sentenced Thursday to four years in prison followed by five years of extended supervision.
Police say Pharm appeared to be sleeping behind the wheel of an MCTS bus when he hit and killed 79-year-old Robert Clemons near 47th and Villard Christmas night. According to court documents, Clemons was working on a legally parked truck with his grandson when Pharm veered off the road, striking him.
During an interview, Pharm reportedly stated he had been working 14-hour days since Dec. 22.
He has since been fired from the Milwaukee County Transit System.
