MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A former Pius High School teacher is facing criminal charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a student.

According to a criminal complaint, detectives investigating allegations made against 34-year-old John Anshus learned he would hug female students for long periods of time and move his hands inappropriately, also commenting on students' bodies and attire.

He's charged with sexually assaulting a student under the age of 18 in April of 2023.

The complaint says Anshus was fired from his position during the investigation.

Court records show he posted $5,000 bond in March of this year. He is due in court for an initial appearance on June 28.
