Gas line struck by construction crew near Prospect and Ogden, forcing evacuations

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- WEC Energy Group reported shortly after 5:30 p.m., crews successfully stopped the flow of gas and repairs will begin.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Buildings in downtown Milwaukee, near Ogden and Prospect, are being evacuated after a gas service line was struck in the area Tuesday afternoon, June 16. 

The Milwaukee Fire Department says a construction crew hit a gas line in the area. 

According to WEC Energy Group, they are currently digging in the road to reach the line to turn off the flow of gas. 

The company says they hope to have the gas off shortly.
