Gas prices increasing in Milwaukee amid conflict in Middle East
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Gas prices are rising due to the conflict in Iran and drivers in Milwaukee are starting to feel the impact.
CBS 58 is tracking data from AAA. While overall, Wisconsin’s gas prices are still below the national average, the current average price of a regular gallon of gas is up nearly 35 cents from one week ago.
“I see people complaining everyday about these gas prices,” Jerry Brock told CBS 58 as he delivered goods to a gas station near 60th and National in Milwaukee. “I’m going to many places. I’m seeing different prices. It went up 4,5,6 cents. It is terrible.”

A University of Wisconsin-Madison professor emeritus told our CBS affiliate the war in Iran will lead to heightened inflation, particularly with oil, drawing comparisons to the Iranian oil boycott during the 1979 revolution.
“Whether that will happen or not remains to be seen, but that is the primary mechanism that Iran has to put pressure on the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of Israel to force them to halt the ongoing attacks,” Davis said.
Drivers like Brock hope despite the uncertainty of the future of the conflict, drivers don’t face consequences at the gas pump.
“I hope the war stops and things go back down and things go back to normal,” Brock said.
