MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More than 600 young girls crossed the finish line at the end of a 5K run at American Family Field.
They were part of a 10-week empowerment program called Girls on the Run.
Girls on the Run teaches girls from third to eighth grade life skills while learning about themselves and others.
On Sunday, Nov. 12, they celebrated the end of program with the 5K.
"We are all about building up these girls to be healthy, strong, and confident young women. The program teaches critical life skills while they are training for a 5K event," said Tina Jones, Director of Girls on the Run.
The next Girls on The Run 5K will be held next spring.
