BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- You're running out of time to find a gift for the hard-to-shop for person in your life. If you're shopping for the person who has-it-all already, give them a gift of experience.

A Brookfield hardware shop offers year-round classes in woodworking and epoxy. The options are endless at Rockler Woodworking and Hardware-- make everything from a simple sign with a personalized message to a pen, a cutting board, kitchen utensils and bowls.

"The biggest thing we do in our class is try and get people past the intimidation," said Scott Thorman, the store manager at the Brookfield Rockler.

They provide the teachers, and all of the supplies and tools needed to make your items. Whether it's something common like a charcuterie board or something unique.

"We do private classes where people can come in and request to build a cabinet door to make new kitchen cabinets," said Gary Datka, the woodworking teacher.

It can be a fun way to spend time with the ones you love, and there's no experience needed.

"Most of the people in my classes, the beginner classes, such as you, have never touched a lathe before," said Datka as we tried our hand at making a pen. "And you walk away with a very nice pen."

You start from scratch with a blank piece of wood and let your imagination wander.
