Gov. Evers announces $410,000 in healthcare training grants, 2 Milwaukee County organizations among recipients
CBS 58 MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development announced more than $410,000 in Fast Forward grants to train more than 600 healthcare workers across three organizations, according to a Tuesday, April 28 press release from the governor's office.
Two Milwaukee County recipients received the largest shares.
Bell Ambulance will use $94,600 to train 600 frontline responders in clinical protocols and sponsor 16 workers to advance their paramedic or critical care credentials.
Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital received $282,517 to launch what the release calls the state's first Limited X-ray Machine Operator education pathway, training 30 current medical assistants, nursing assistants and EMTs for licensure.
A third grant of $33,226 went to a workforce board in Ashland County for dental assistant training.
Healthcare makes up more than 15% of Wisconsin's workforce, according to DWD.
