Gov. Evers proclaims 'Culver’s Day' to honor restaurant’s 40th anniversary

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Gov. Tony Evers has proclaimed Thursday, June 18 as "Culver’s Day" across Wisconsin. The declaration celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Wisconsin-based restaurant chain known for its ButterBurgers and fresh frozen custard.

Founded in 1984 in Sauk City by Craig, Lea, George and Ruth Culver, Culver’s has grown to nearly 1,000 locations across 26 states. The chain's franchise model allows people to own restaurants and provide jobs to others in their communities.

Gov. Evers stated in the press release announcing the proclamation, "For the past four decades, the Culver’s success story has exemplified what it means to keep service, kindness, and hard work at the forefront, and I’m glad to be able to help celebrate this iconic Wisconsin business today."

The press release also celebrated Culver’s for engaging in numerous charitable efforts, including raising over $5 million since 2013 through the Thank You Farmers Project.
