'Now, we're a huge soccer family': Antonio Freeman's son Alex represents US national soccer team in Chicago
CBS 58 CHICAGO (CBS 58) -- What a thrill for Packers Hall of Famer Antonio Freeman. Watching his son Alex start for the U.S. men's national team on Saturday, June 6. We sat with him for part of the game and he was a proud dad.
"It's nerve wracking," Antonio Freeman says.
Speaking about having good memories at Soldier Field, Antonio said he certainly has had his moments there. "It was always fun to come play at Soldier Field and pretty much come home with a win."
"I think the fans wanna get us playing right," Alex Freeman says. "We wanna play for the fans as well. Supporting us we can give even more on the field."
"We weren't a soccer family," Alex's mom Rochelle Hinkle says. "We didn't grow up watching soccer, obviously. His dad played in the NFL. Now, we're a huge soccer family."
"I always thought we had a chance," Antonio says. "We had four running the show."
When discussing a touchdown being caught in the 1996 season in the same spot a goal was scored on Saturday, Antonio said, "I didn't know it was the same spot, but I remember everything in Chicago."
American football or soccer, it's all football and it's all thrilling to the Freemans.
