Governor Walker orders flags to half-staff for MPD Officer Michael Michalski

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) – Governor Scott Walker has ordered flags of the United States and the State of Wisconsin to be flown at half-staff in honor of Milwaukee Police Department Officer Michael Michalski of the Special Investigations Division who died in the line of duty on Wednesday, July 25.

Flags should be moved to half-staff immediately and stay there until sunset on the day of Michalski's funeral. A date for the funeral has not been set.

Along with the order, Governor Walker said:

“Tonette and I mourn the death of Officer Michael Michalski who died in the line of duty while protecting the people he served for 20 years. His passing is another painful reminder of the absolute commitment and sacrifices our law enforcement officers make to protect our communities every day. Our hearts go out to his family and the entire Milwaukee Police Department family. His memory and dedication to our state will always be remembered.”
