GREENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- There was a march throughout the hallways of Greendale High School Wednesday morning, for the school's cheer team - they won a national championship in Orlando, Florida last weekend.
Nearly 70 students, members of the varsity cheer team and the pep band took home top honors in the competition after finishing second a year ago.
Two of the cheer captains told us how it felt to get that kind of national recognition.
"It was just the most unreal thing I've ever experienced, and even now, it still like feels like I'm living in a dream," said Grace Uremovich, cheer team captain. "And it's just like so crazy to look back and think that I just won a national championship."
"I still don't think of myself, I feel like, as one. But I think as a team? Yeah," said captain Ayanna LaPoint.
What a year it's been for Greendale High School. You may remember their marching band was chosen to be part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York last November.
That's a lot of Panther pride for one school year.
