Groundbreaking for new library, apartments near 77th and Good Hope

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new multi-million dollar development is coming to Milwaukee's northwest side.

There was a groundbreaking ceremony for a new library and apartment complex near 77th and Good Hope.

The 17,000 square foot library will be one of the biggest libraries in the city.

It will also be one of the most advanced with a classroom space, computers, and 3D printer.

"This is not your grandmother's library. This is a learning center. This is a job center. This is a town hall. This is where three-year-olds, 13-year-olds, 33-year-olds, 83-year-olds can gather in the same place to widen their horizons," said Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.

The project also includes 65 mixed-income apartments.
