MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new multi-use community project broke ground in Milwaukee's King Park neighborhood Tuesday, June 30.

NeuVue is a $16 million development designed to be a safe space for the area's young adults.

The six-story project located at the corner of N. 12th and Cherry Street will include commercial spaces, apartments, and amenities such as a gym and rooftop garden.

City leaders gathered to celebrate the milestone, including Mayor Cavalier Johnson. He praised the effort it took from partners to make this all happen and focused on the impact the space will have.

"Young people need access to education, they need access to job training, they need access to mentorship, they need supportive environments that help them stay on a path," Mayor Johnson said. "And this project brings all of that together in a very beautiful way."

Neu-Life Community Development is a Milwaukee-based nonprofit that has been focused on empowering the city's youth for over two decades.
