Gun found on Indian Trail student in Kenosha, weapon not located during initial search
KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Kenosha Unified School District sent a letter to families Tuesday, after learning that a gun was found on a student at Indian Trail.
The letter says two officers conducted an initial search of the student, following concerns over a social media post Monday that depicted a weapon.
Kenosha officers did not find the weapon during their initial search. However, a weapon was located on the student after they were detained and processed through juvenile intake.
The letter says the student did not use the weapon to threaten students or staff during the school day, but "appropriate charges will be filed."
The district says Kenosha police are reviewing the incident and evaluating whether procedures used by their officers were performed in accordance with training standards.
