Hackers target Packers, NFL twitter accounts

GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Green Bay Packers and other NFL teams may have been hacked by the same group.

You may have see a message posted to the Packers twitter account Monday, Jan. 27. It said the group "Our Mine" took control of the account to show that everything is hackable.


The tweet has since been deleted. 

Similar messages were posted to accounts for the Bears, Chiefs and the NFL itself.

The NFL released the following statement on the incident: 

"On Monday, the NFL Cybersecurity department became aware of a breach of a league-related social media account. Targeted breaches and additional failed attempts were discovered across the league and team accounts. The NFL took immediate action and directed the teams to secure their social media accounts and prevent further unauthorized access. Simultaneously, the league alerted the social media platform providers and, with their assistance, secured all league and club accounts. We continue to work diligently with the teams, which have resumed normal operations.

The NFL teams are cooperating with its social media platform providers and law enforcement."
