HARTFORD, Wis. (CBS 58) — A family in Hartford is hoping to save lives after losing one of their loved ones.

Connie and Glen Weinfurter's son, Jason, died from fentanyl poisoning in November 2023.

Last year, they went to a fundraiser where they learned about Start Healing Now, a Wisconsin group in the Clinton Foundation's Overdose Response Network.

They install overdose aid kits (O.A.K.) across the country, containing Narcan, fentanyl test strips, CPR face shields, and other resources.

The Weinfurters purchased two O.A.K. boxes, and the first was installed Thursday just off of Main Street in Hartford, behind Lotus Be Well.

"I don't want another family to go through what we went through and are going through, because it's tough, very tough," said Connie Weinfurter. "So, if we can save a life, get the word out, it means the best -- the world."

The Weinfurters said the initiative has helped with their healing process as they mourn their son.

They are working with other places in Hartford to find a home for a second box soon.
