Havenwoods State Forest becomes the stage for Wild Space's InSite: Field Guide
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Wild Space Dance Company’s InSite: Field Guide returns for a fourth season with free, site-specific performances at Havenwoods State Forest on Milwaukee’s northwest side Friday, Oct. 10 and Saturday, Oct. 11.
The aim is to combine guided walks, pre-show talks and outdoor dance performances created for the Havenwoods landscape. Audiences move along trails while witnessing choreography inspired by the city’s ecosystems and urban wilderness.
Artistic Director Dan Schuchart of Wild Space Dance Company and Alejandra Jiménez Marván, founder and director of Ometochtli Mexican Folk Dance, joined us on Monday, Oct. 6 to take a look at it.
This year’s collaboration features Ometochtli Mexican Folk Dance and guest choreographers including Katelyn Altmann, Cuauhtli Ramírez Castro, Zoe Glise, Elisabeth Roskopf along with Marván and Schuchart.
Pre-show talks with park rangers explore Havenwoods’ layered history, from penitentiary to state forest. Admission is free, but RSVP is required by clicking here.
