The rain is here! Scattered showers rolled in Thursday and mostly impacted our northern counties from Thursday evening through Friday morning. Through 7 AM Friday rainfall totals over the last 24 hours have ranged from a tenth of an inch in southern counties to almost 0.75" in northern counties.
Now we are waiting for the steady and heavy rain to arrive. The best timing chances for the heavy rain are from 9 AM through at least the late afternoon into the evening.
Soaking rain is still likely over the next 36 hours with most of southeast Wisconsin seeing another 1-2.5" of rainfall with most of it falling Friday through Saturday morning. Rain totals for some will likely surpass 3".
When it comes to rain chances there's a 100% chance for heavy rain on Friday. Saturday has a likely threat for rain in the morning but should get lighter and more scattered by Saturday afternoon and evening. Most communities are dry on Sunday but some lake effect showers are possible in lakeside communities especially in Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties.
Don't forget about the wind either! Gusts Friday morning have already reached 30 mph with 35 mph gusts possible during the day Friday. The strongest wind is likely Friday night through Saturday morning with gusts to 40 mph then the wind slowly comes down but a breeze will remain through Sunday.
