MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Monday marked the third day of protests over the recent arrest of Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan, who is now facing felony charges.

Authorities are accusing Dugan of helping a man, who the FBI said is in the United States unlawfully, evade immigration officials earlier this month.

The man, Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, is facing three misdemeanor charges and was later arrested outside of the courthouse.

On April 28, dozens of Wisconsin officials held a press conference outside of the courthouse denouncing the arrest, which has since sparked national headlines.

The event was also led by Forward Latino, a national Hispanic civil rights nonprofit headquartered in Franklin.

"It's been a very troubling time, but to learn that it could happen to her made it all the more real for all of us," said Forward Latino President Darryl Morin. "Of the three and separate and equal and independent branches of government, with one trying to dominate the other, and I don't think any American should be willing to accept that."

Morin said he and other members of the organization are flying to Washington D.C. to condemn the arrest with leaders on the hill.

"We'll be meeting with various senators and representatives from not just Wisconsin, but a number of different states over the next several days," Morin said.

If convicted of the felony charges against her, Judge Dugan could face six years in prison.

According to Chief Judge Carl Ashley, her cases will be covered by a reserve judge.

She returns to court on May 15.

"We're once again urging everyone at home, everyone listening, to call their elected officials, their senators and their representative, and tell them to fulfill their sworn oath to defend the constitution," Morin said.
