I-94 showdown: Brewers fans fired up for NLDS Game 2 vs. Cubs
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Brewers are back in action Monday night, Oct. 6 and they will be looking to keep the momentum going.
The Brew Crew will be facing off against their rivals, the Chicago Cubs, in Game 2 of the National League Division Series (NLDS).
The first pitch is set for 8:08 p.m. With rain in the forecast, the roof will be closed at American Family Field.
From the parking lot tailgaters to nearby bars and restaurants, the excitement for Game 2 will build throughout the day.
Kelly's Bleachers, located on Bluemound, is one of the bars near the stadium serving as a home base for fans both before and after the game. Shuttle buses will run to take fans to and from AmFam Field.
"I just think it's cool that as many times we've played each other, first time in the playoffs, it's epic. It's history," said Sue Black, Brewers fan.
"They earned it. The kids earned it. It's all of it, it's for all of us, it's for the city," said Jim Gerdis, Brewers fan.
One of the ceremonial first pitches will be by Brewers legendary broadcaster's son, Bob Uecker Jr. A lot of tailgaters CBS 58 spoke to say he is the reason the Brewers have had their hot streak and want to win it all for him.
Coming off a 9-3 win over the Cubs in Game 1, and an incredible season, fans think the Crew has what it takes to win it all.
Some tailgaters called off work, and others brought their laptops to the parking lot -- anything to join in on the action.
"It's an atmosphere. It's a great atmosphere. Gotta get here all set up for whoever passes by and wants to stop and have a few and share some time," said Valerie Hammitt, Brewers fan.
One of the biggest Brewers fans may be Cheryl Markiewicz, who was the first to arrive to American Family Field at around 12:20 PM. She says she's been to over 60 games this season, has danced with Freddy Peralta, and has a signature from Yelich tattooed on her arm! Markiewicz says tailgating is part of tradition at AmFam, and thinks the Brew Crew can win in all, because the team is friendly and talented.
