MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, and the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) marked the occasion with a new bus design.
The design pays tribute to the cultural impact of the Hispanic community in Milwaukee County.
The design includes significant Hispanic imagery, such as a skeleton-shaped mariachi that represents a Day of the Dead tradition.
During the announcement, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley was there showing support for Hispanic communities in Milwaukee.
"Hispanic and Latino people have a profound positive impact on our community through an unwavering commitment to family, to faith, to hard work, as well as to service. And we share a vision to become the healthiest county in the state of Wisconsin because Hispanic heritage, it is American heritage," said Crowley.
Hispanic Heritage Month runs Sept. 15 - Oct. 15. There will be more community events throughout the month as the celebration continues.
