MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Want to make your holidays even more festive? You can learn to make famous yuletide drinks the right way.

This Saturday at noon at Glorioso's Appetito / Sage Harvest on Milwaukee's east side, you can correctly create cocktails, including eggnog, hot buttered rum, Snow Cap and a Smoked Apple Cider Margarita.

It's an afternoon of fun and mixology with a professional instructor on hand. The session runs for a few hours. It's $49 a class.

Eggnog Recipe

  • Yield: 4-6 servings

Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • ¾ cup white granulated sugar
  • 4 oz. brandy
  • 5 oz. dry sherry
  • 1½ cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions:

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer or in a traditional blender, blend the eggs for one minute.
  • With the mixer running, gradually add sugar and continue blending for an additional minute.
  • Add the brandy, sherry, milk, and cream; blend until well incorporated.
  • Transfer the mixture to a container and refrigerate for 24 hours.
  • Serve chilled.


Hot Buttered Rum Recipe

  • Yield: Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups apple cider or water
  • 2 oz. dark rum
  • 2 oz. unsalted butter, room temperature
  • Cinnamon to taste (start with ¼ tsp.)
  • Allspice to taste (start with 1 pinch)
  • Nutmeg to taste (start with 1 pinch)
  • Brown sugar to taste (start with 2 tsp.)
  • Sea salt to taste (start with ½ tsp.)

Instructions:

  • Use a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment to incorporate spices, sugar, and salt into the butter until smooth. Set aside at room temperature.
  • Heat cider to a simmer, then remove from heat.
  • Use a fork or small whisk to incorporate the butter mixture into the cider until the butter is fully melted.


Snow Cap Martini Recipe

  • Yield: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1½ oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • 1½ oz. coconut cream, melted
  • 3 Oreo cookies, crumbled or processed into a fine crumble
  • Marshmallow dip or warm Marshmallow Fluff
  • Candy cane for garnish

Instructions:

  • Rim a chilled martini glass in marshmallow, then dip in Oreo crumble.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, add Bailey’s, coconut cream, and vodka.
  • Place a lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for 20 seconds.
  • Strain the cocktail into the rimmed martini glass.
  • Garnish the Snow Cap Martini with a candy cane.
  • Enjoy responsibly!
