WEST BEND, Wis. (CBS 58) -- For 75 years, Husar’s House of Fine Diamonds has been a fixture in West Bend, with people coming here to commemorate important life events.

After decades of family ownership, the Husar family will close their doors at the end of this week.

Every day, dozens of people from across the state walk through their front doors, ready to commemorate a special moment — from birthdays to engagements to anniversaries.

“They can wear it, and it creates their own legacy within their own families,” said owner Mike Husar.

“You should ask my wife that, actually. She’s the one who has a perpetual smile on her face when I come home from Husar’s,” said customer Tim Glasgow.

For 75 years, Husar’s House of Fine Diamonds has been worth its weight in gold in West Bend.

“If you’re wearing a Husar’s House of Fine Diamonds piece, you’re wearing the finest quality piece of jewelry you can get anywhere in the United States,” said Glasgow.

On Saturday, the state’s largest family-owned jewelry store will open its doors one last time.

“This is a planned exit, and probably the hardest thing is it’s been one of our strongest years going into it,” said Husar.

Customers have until 4 p.m. on Saturday to purchase something in-store. Husar says he’s still exploring the possibility of selling some inventory online.

“Those are the kinda things I think I’m going to miss the most is those stories. 'Oh, this was my great grandmother’s' or whatever the case may be, or 'I got this for my high school graduation,'” said Husar.

It started as a dream inside a small store.

“I don’t think my dad would have ever thought that would happen when he started this 75 years ago in a little 200-square-foot store,” said Husar.

Now, with every last item sold, it's a dream that lives on through heirlooms.

“That’s a great legacy to have,” said Glasgow.
