DELAFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A modern-American restaurant housed in the Delafield Hotel has been recognized as the most beautiful in the state, and one of the most beautiful in the nation by editors at OpenTable.

The editors chose restaurants that "deliver unforgettable dining experiences," according to a Wednesday, May 1 article in People magazine.

“It’s an eclectic mix of lighting, and art, and design, and we really wanted that to reflect the same cuisine and drink pairings,” said Executive Chef Joe Heppe.

Heppe told CBS 58 News there's a rustic, industrial vibe to the scene with a recycled look to it.

I.d. was recognized for a particularly unique feature: "The showstopper here is the ceiling, painted with confetti-hued pop art that matches the dining room’s lively, playful energy."

The restaurant took to social media to show their appreciation for the special recognition.

Since its inception in 2016 many have asked, and very few actually know….What does ‘I.d.’ stand for?

"it's been a big mystery for the past multiple years that we’ve been open where it came up in the beginning and we just ran with it,” added Heppe.
