Illinois governor announces free Six Flags tickets for people who get COVID-19 vaccine

CHICAGO, Ill. (CBS 58) -- Chicago Gov. JB Pritzker announced Thursday, May 13, Six Flags Great America is offering 50,000 free tickets to its parks in Gurnee and Rockford to people who are vaccinated against COVID-19. 

Six Flags Great America is donating 50,000 free tickets to the amusement parks in Gurnee and Rockford to newly vaccinated Illinois residents, Pritzker's office said in a statement, noting that the value of the tickets is $4 million.

“Illinoisans have worked so hard over the past year and a half to keep their families and neighbors safe, and reaching Bridge Phase means that we’re closer than ever to a return to normalcy,” Pritzker said in a statement Thursday morning. “To keep up this progress, I urge every eligible Illinoisan – now including 12 to 15-year-olds – to get vaccinated as soon as possible.”

Six Flags is expected to release more details in the coming weeks.
