Indie music star Noah Kahan names Kwik Trip #2 on top convenience stores list
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- If you do a lot of travel, you may have strong opinions about gas stations.
Now, thanks to the efforts of CBS 58 staff and Kwik Trip, we have an exclusive look at Kahan's first experience with Kwik Trip ahead of his sold-out show at the Miller High Life Theatre Saturday night.
Noah Kahan and his band paid a trip to the Kwik Trip off I-94 in Oak Creek and it's fair to say he was impressed.
Clipboard in hand, Kahan and his band inspected what Kwik Trip had to offer.
"Beer selection, incredible. The Old Milwaukee ones reminded my childhood Coors Banquets. Classic. Well done. Good selection of IPAs if you're pretentious," said Kahan with a clipboard in his hand.
Going down his list, beer selection, 10/10, snacks, 10/10. As for Kwik Trip's famous hot food and glazers…
"Unbelievable. I would eat all of that, I have the worst acid reflux ever, which means it's a 10," said Kahan.
When it came to the bathrooms, which Kahan says are graded harder on a 20-point scale, Kwik Trip came in at 19.
"There was no Dyson Airblade dryer, but you had a kind of a similar knockoff, which is fantastic," noted Kahan.
He did eventually admit it was all tongue and cheek.
"This is literally just an oral surgery medication form," said Kahan, turning around his clipboard to reveal what was on it.
His bandmates said Kahan was serious about his assessment.
"[Kwik Trip] did live up to the hype, unbelievable establishment," said Kahan, "and I have to say you guys sneak into the top five easily. So, we'll give Kwik Trip number two on my list so congratulations to Kwik Trip you have beat out Bucee's and Casey's."
More importantly, Kahan said he was shocked at the reaction to his initial ranking list.
"I couldn't believe how many gas stations had Twitter accounts and how snarky they were. There was like some serious bad blood between some of you guys and honestly like you guys have a lot to work out," said Kahan to Kwik Trip representatives.
Kwik Trip didn't unseat his #1 however, a Mobil close to his home in Vermont.
"It's just my hometown gas station. You know, nothing was gonna beat it out," said Kahan,
Paige Forde, Kahan and his band's liaison for his visit to Kwik Trip, says their inspection was through.
"It was intense. Very intense," said Forde, going on to say they're proud with coming in second, behind his hometown gas station.
"That's tough. We can't really beat that and him not being from Wisconsin. I think him coming in here and saying that it's his second top. That's huge."
Right now, Noah Kahan and his band don't have another tour date in Wisconsin coming up soon. So, it may be a while until he gets to visit a Kwik Trip again.
