MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- Jeffrey Scott Grob was installed as Archbishop of Milwaukee during a special ceremony at the Cathedral of St. John The Evangelist Church. This marks a new era of leadership for more than 180 parishes in Southeast Wisconsin.

Grob is the 12th Archbishop of Milwaukee. "As much as I'm the focal point, this is not about me," he said following the ceremony which brought crowds to witness the future of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

"There's an excitement, I'm happy, I'm honored. God has been so good to me," the new archbishop said.

Grob is the former Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago and happy to be back in his home state of Wisconsin.

He was born in Madison and grew up on a dairy farm in Cross Plains. "I still see myself, after all these years, as a farm boy from Wisconsin," he said.

Archbishop Grob was ordained to priesthood by the Archdiocese of Chicago back in 1992, serving many roles over the last three decades. He says now, as archbishop, there are many things he's hoping to focus on in this role.

"Now, more than ever, it's a matter of the church going out to those people.... how does the church go out and engage the world?" he said. Bringing people together and getting young people back in the church is a goal.

"We're in a moment where I really believe we're making a turn, a conversion for young people. And learning, how do we continue to engage," Archbishop Grob said.

There are 10 counties part of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. This includes 184 parishes that serve more than 500,000 Catholics, 103 schools, and six cemeteries, according to church officials.

The installation ceremony marks the end of leadership for the 11th Archbishop of Milwaukee, Jerome Listecki, who has served in the role since 2010.
