Kenosha Co. medical examiner reports 3 suspected overdose deaths in 5-day period
KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kenosha County officials are warning the public after three suspected overdose deaths during a "recent five-day period."
Medical Examiner Patrice Hall said the three cases all occurred in the city of Kenosha.
The medical examiner's office says toxicology results are pending, and it isn't known whether fentanyl was involved in these cases, but Hall says it "continues to be a contributing factor " in many of Kenosha County's overdose deaths.
“Life-saving resources including Narcan and fentanyl test strips are available to people struggling with substance abuse,” Hall said. “I strongly encourage people who are using and their loved ones to learn more about what’s available.”
The Kenosha Police Department (KPD) shared an alert on social media last week, noting "multiple drug overdoses" within the last three weeks.
The post said, in part, "KPD is aware counterfeit pills are present in our community and suspect they likely contributed to these overdoses. Please know, we are working on locating and stopping the source."
The ME's office says Narcan is available at no cost from Kenosha County Public Health. For more information, click here or call 262-605-6741.
Fentanyl test strips are also available for pickup at the Kenosha County Public Health Job Center Clinic at 8600 Sheridan Road. For more information, call 262-605-6775. They are also available at Vivent Health-Kenosha, which can be reached at 262-657-6644.
