CBS 58

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Kenosha Police Department announced Monday, May 11 that it has received accreditation through the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group, becoming the second largest law enforcement agency in the state to earn the distinction.

The process is voluntary, taking more than two years. It included a three-day on-site assessment in February during which WILEAG assessors evaluated the department's policies, procedures and operations against 262 standards.

Only about 10% of Wisconsin's nearly 600 law enforcement agencies have achieved WILEAG accreditation, according to KPD.

"Becoming accredited by WILEAG for the first time marks a significant milestone in the history of our department," said Chief Patrick Patton. "This accreditation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and transparency."
