Khris Middleton is good, on and off the court

NOW: Khris Middleton is good, on and off the court

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With the reported trade of Khris Middleton to Washington, an online debate about his play has resurfaced.

Middleton is a three-time NBA All-Star.

The third-leading scorer, with the most 3-pointers made in Bucks history.

An Olympic gold-medalist and NBA Champion.

But strangely, Middleton is also one of the most polarizing players to ever wear a Bucks uniform. Back when "Bucks Twitter" was a thing, one of the great debates online was whether or not Khris Middleton was the right player to bring Milwaukee an NBA Championbship (or ANOTHER title after the 2021 season).

Both sides traded post after post, accusing the other of not knowing ball. The hashtag "Khris Middleton is good" was born. The two competing keyboard forces dug in so deep, some Bucks fans felt compelled to make their feelings known with hats and t-shirts.

The reported trade to Washington has re-ignited the debate, some posting that Middleton was not a contributor this season.

What is not up for debate is Middleton's impact off the court, at least according to Jonathan Hansen, Chief Strategy Officer for the Hunger Task Force.

"Khris, his family, and his foundation are those unique people who recognize not only do they have the resources to help, they also have the voice to help," Hansen said.

Middleton's "12 Days of Khrismas" is his way to give back every holiday season. CBS 58 asked him about it in at a 2023 coat drive, he told us the yearly initiative is "just part of who I am, realizing people are in need in certain and different ways, small things like a coat can go a long way, especially for kids, especially in the city of Milwaukee."

Hansen says Middleton's hands-on involvement inspires others to help. "Khris has helped thousands of families in this community. He's fed families, he kept them warm, he's helped them keep sheltered, he's engaged with them," he said.

Middleton's Game 4 of the 2021 NBA Finals is the stuff of legends.

And some Milwaukee kids were kept warm and fed thanks to his efforts. As a way of saying thanks, maybe it's time to end the debate-- Khris Middleton is, and forever will be, "good."

"We are so grateful for his support his efforts and all that he's done for us over the years," Hansen said.
