JEFFERSON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Governor Tony Evers, alongside Kikkoman CEO Yuzaburo Magi, celebrated the grand opening of a new production facility in Jefferson Friday, Sept. 18. 

Kikkoman is a Japanese food company known for their soy and teriyaki sauces. 

According to a press release from the governor, the new facility is an over $500 million investment and will create more than 80 jobs in the state. 

More than 50 years ago, Kikkoman opened their first American facility in Walworth, and that partnership has held strong ever since. 

“For more than 50 years, Kikkoman has shown Japanese business leaders that Wisconsin is a place where international companies can succeed, build trusted partnerships, and become valued members of their communities,” said Gov. Evers. “Kikkoman is one of our finest examples of what such a partnership can accomplish, and we look forward to growing together for many more decades to come.”

The Jefferson facility is Kikkoman's third production facility in the United States and is expected to begin shipping later this fall.
