GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Organized team activities -- or OTAs -- even Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur admits that it's basically a jog through. There's no pads, just jerseys and shorts. But he does notice one thing that the team has definitely improved upon from last season.
"I think as a whole. I think our football team is in a much better spot than we were probably, than we were a year ago as well," Matt LaFleur said.
The D -- year two of defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley's system -- made strides last year but Lukas Van Ness says it feels far more seamless this year.
"It's very evident this year just from the call and the communication," said Packers defensive lineman Lukas Van Ness. "Across the whole defense that we’re going into year two. Everything seems a lot cleaner. A lot more crisp. Just having some consistency with the coaching. And then obviously bringing Coach Covington in and getting a new flavor in there with him. But you can tell. I mean I think that again we still got a couple more weeks left of OTAs. But I’ve been really proud of the way we’ve come together, and we’ve played and it’s making me excited for this fall."
LaFleur also said he loves Matthew Golden's approach. The first-round rookie wide receiver comes to work prepared every day.
