Lake effect snow chances return to end the week

NOW: Lake effect snow chances return to end the week
NEXT:

The focus in the weather world has been all on the cold over the last week with dangerous wind chills at times down as cold as -45. That cold air has become a bit more reasonable the last few days with wind chills to -20 in the morning and around 0 in the afternoon. That trend will continue for a few more days with cold air still lingering through Saturday morning then starting to get better by Saturday afternoon.

Thursday will be another sunny start to the day with clouds increasing in the late afternoon and evening hours. Thursday night will stay mostly cloudy and mostly dry by during the morning commute tomorrow the chance for lake effect snow will begin. The band of lake effect snow will start over Lake Michigan Thursday night then move over land sometime during the morning commute Friday. It could start for everyone lakeside from Sheboygan down to Kenosha then become more defined and heavy around midday Friday in Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties. The lake effect should wrap up by late afternoon Friday with mostly dry conditions expected Friday night.

Lake effect snow totals on Friday look highest lakeside with up to 2" possible there. The highest of that range, closer to 2", will likely be in Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties. Farther inland could see a few lake effect snow showers with a dusting possible as far west as Oconomowoc or Lake Geneva.

After the sunshine Thursday and lake effect Friday, there is still a slight chance for some lake effect on Saturday. Some weather models push the band of lake effect snow back over land while others keep it over Lake Michigan. If we do see snow the totals look less than Friday.
