A boost in temperatures despite the lack of sunshine
WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) – Valentine’s Day is usually big business for flower and gift shops. For many small businesses, it's been a tough year and many are hoping the holiday will give them a boost.
At The Flower Lady in Wauwatosa, businesses has been a little bit slow, but they’re expecting it to pick up Friday, Feb. 12 and through the holiday weekend.
“It’s a last-minute holiday,” The Flower Lady owner Deb Fowler said. “It’s been hard for all small businesses and we’re all trying to stay on top of things and think of exciting things to bring people in.”
Typically, this week Fowler said they would be delivering Valentine’s Day flowers to offices, but that's not happening. She believes many people will stop by the store on Saturday and Sunday to get flowers and last-minute gifts that can be enjoyed at home, like candles.
“I think those will be our big days,” she said. “We’re fully stocked and fully prepared and do anticipate being really busy.”
The Flower Lady also has online ordering and curbside pick-up for those who don’t want to shop in store.
