Let’s go: Packers' Brass interview, work out potential draft picks
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (CBS 58) -- At the NFL Combine, Green Bay Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst says it came as a surprise when special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia resigned. Now, the Packers are the only team that are looking for someone in that position so they can be thorough -- but yet they should have someone soon.
For the Packers, many feel the team needs to address the cornerback position. But for a draft and develop team, Green Bay GM Gutekunst says it’s that, plus the needs are more than that.
"Throughout quite frankly," Gutekunst says. "But certainly in the secondary I think we need to add some competition. Probably inside linebacker. You know throughout the offense. To me it's more. It's not about position. It's more about the entire football because of how we're going to play. With a new defensive coordinator."
It will be a challenge in the draft. The Packers currently do not have a first-round pick because of the Micah Parsons' trade with the Cowboys.
"It would take a significant amount of resources to get back up into the first round," Gutekunst says. "But if that player was available and that makes sense to us? You know we would never shy away from that. I wouldn't expect that to happen."
Despite the injury, Gutekunst says he has zero regrets about the Parsons trade, saying it’s all about winning now.
