MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A project that promotes health and economic growth in Milwaukee's Lindsay Heights neighborhood is now in its final phase.
The Walnut Way Conservation Corporation held a ribbon-cutting Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 9, to celebrate the "Innovations and Wellness Commons project."
The more than 17,000-square foot development will help give health, wellness and workforce services to Lindsay Heights residents.
"This development is completely driven by residents, people who live in this neighborhood," said Antonio Butts, executive director of Walnut Way Conservation Corp. "That is really, really important in terms of realizing what's really possible as far as moving the needle and changing basically the conditions of our community."
Walnut Way is working with local vendors to provide mental health counseling, nutrition, neighborhood programming support, diverse health industry training and street outreach for sex trafficking.
