WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 39-year-old man is accused of breaking into Jackson’s Blue Ribbon Pub in Wauwatosa, stealing alcohol and leaving his two children home alone.

Thomas Barrath faces burglary, two counts of child neglect and obstructing an officer, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday, Aug. 31.

The complaint says the pub’s owner reported seeing a person climb through a window at around 1:24 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, then go through the bar and register area before leaving with bottles.

Police later found Barrath apparently asleep in bushes near the restaurant, according to the complaint. He was allegedly wearing the same Green Bay Packers plush robe seen on surveillance video. Officers found a 6-pack of White Claw, empty White Claw packaging and a bottle of Tito’s vodka nearby.

The complaint says Barrath initially gave officers a false name and refused to be fingerprinted. During booking, he allegedly told police he was the primary caretaker for two children who had been left unattended at his apartment.

Officers went to the home and found the children, ages 9 and 5, according to the complaint. Prosecutors say neither child was harmed.
