Man accused of stabbing, assaulting women on Milwaukee's east side
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 54-year-old man is accused of stabbing a woman and sexually assaulting another on Milwaukee's east side.
The accused is Scott Dykas of Milwaukee. He's facing the following charges:
- First-degree sexual assault
- First-degree reckless injury
- Second-degree sexual assault
According to a criminal complaint, on July 30, 2023, a 21-year-old woman told investigators she was leaving work around 1:15 a.m. when she realized a man was following her near East Park Place and Maryland Avenue.
The victim, according to the complaint, stated the man -- later identified as Dykas -- grabbed her buttocks and a struggle began. The complaint says Dykas stabbed the victim once on her right side.
Dykas then allegedly fled on foot.
On July 25, 2024, investigators responded to Bradford and Oakland Avenues for a report of a sexual assault. The victim, a 28-year-old woman, told authorities she was walking in the area around 10 p.m., when a male suspect -- later identified as Dykas -- wrapped his arm around her neck and told her to, "calm down, be quiet."
Dykas, according to the complaint, sexually assaulted the woman. Authorities say the victim then grabbed a knife out of her fanny pack and stabbed Dykas in the left side -- causing the two to separate.
Dykas allegedly stated," I have one too" -- indicated he had a knife -- and reached into his hooded sweatshirt and started walking toward the victim.
The victim took pepper spray from the lanyard around her neck and sprayed it at Dykas before fleeing home and calling 911.
Hours later, authorities learned a stabbing victim checked in for treatment at an area hospital.
The stabbing victim was identified as Dykas.
According to the complaint, investigators used surveillance footage and a live lineup to identify Dykas as the suspect involved in the two assaults.
Dykas was placed under arrest and made a statement saying, "I just keep digging myself into deeper and deeper holes."
Dykas was in court Wednesday, July 31 where bond was set at $100,000.
