Man dies following sailboat crash near Wind Point lighthouse in Racine

RACINE (CBS 58) -- The Racine County Sheriff's Office (RCSO) is investigating a fatal boat crash near the Wind Point lighthouse in Racine. 

According to authorities, a call for a stranded sailboat stuck on a sandbar without any passengers came in around 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 13.

Deputies on scene located the unoccupied boat nearly 200 yards from shore. A RCSO boat and US Coast Guard helicopter searched the area for nearly 3 hours. 

A 60-year-old man from Chicago was located nearly 2 miles from shore, south of Myers Park. He was unresponsive and wearing a personal flotation device.

The investigation is ongoing and no foul play is suspected.
