Man fatally shot near 54th and National in West Milwaukee

WEST MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- West Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place near 54th and W. National. Officers responding to a report of a shooting say they located a 38-year-old Milwaukee man with multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting took place Sunday, Nov. 3 at around 10:59 p.m.

Officers say in a press release that they provided medical aid until the Milwaukee Fire Department arrived. The victim was transported to Froedtert Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect, a 24-year-old Milwaukee man, allegedly fled the scene before police arrived. Authorities are attempting to locate him and have provided information to nearby jurisdictions.

The investigation is ongoing.
