March 'Winter Wonderland' in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With dozens of buses stuck in the snow waiting for a helping hand to get going again, it was a winter wonderland kind of Saturday morning in Milwaukee.
If you didn't know any better, you would think it's still January.
Despite the difficulties, some people found ways to have fun still.
"Well, my wife said I was forced to go have fun with my kid," joked Esteves.
Miguel Esteves and his son, six-year-old Caleb, went to Pulaski Park to get a little winter sledding in.
"It was like so snowy, and I went from here all the way to there," said Caleb.
Instead of it being the holidays and mid-winter however, it's March.
"I didn't expect it at all, I knew it was going to snow but I didn't think it was going to be this much," said Esteves, adding that shoveling out was quite the task. "Like both cars, it was kinda wet snow, so it was kinda heavy."
He wasn't the only one.
"I have to shovel all the drive for my house, but I think I can make it," said Lucia Renteria as she shoveled.
Renteria says when she got off work, she got to shoveling the sidewalks.
Her husband says he'll finish the job with a snow blower later. So, for now, despite the late snow, Renteria says she's appreciating the snow-covered trees and yards.
"I think this weather is making us crazy, thinking we're all done with the snow and here's this beautiful snow," said Renteria.
Esteves and Renteria said they plan to make the most of a snowy March Saturday.
"Enjoy your time with your kids, because when they grow up, they'll forget about you," said Esteves.
