Details announced for the 10th annual Mayor’s Masked Ball fundraiser
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Marquette women's basketball team will be getting an extra taste of culture this summer. The Golden Eagles are heading on a foreign tour to Italy and Greece.
MU will travel to Rome, Vatican City and Athens on the 10-day trip. The Golden Eagles will play a total of three games over the course of the trip. There are only six players back from last year's team. The squad feels that they will use this time to mesh together.
"Every team, you know, when they come back from these, has great memories that they can share and has the memories to draw on during the season when things get tough. I think it will be a great opportunity for us," said Rose Nkumu, a junior guard.
They also get to see some cultural sites during the trip. Marquette women's basketball coach Megan Duffy played in Italy during her professional career and is excited to make the return trip.
"I get to see a few old teammates from back in the day that are going to come and support us," said Duffy. "I'm trying to brush up on my Italian a little bit to see if I remember any of it, cause I used to have to call plays in Italian and communicate with my coaches in a very different way back then."
The Golden Eagles' trip is from Aug. 9. to Aug. 8.
