CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson is using his line-item veto to roll back parts of the 2026 budget, saying some council add-ons aren't sustainable.
He cut funding for longer Sunday library hours, new fire equipment, and residency incentives, arguing they'd push future budgets and taxes too high.
Supporters say they were reflecting what the people want.
The budget now goes back to the council, which will vote Nov. 25 on a possible override.
