MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County Transit System has named Brian E. Wojcik as its new chief operations officer, someone the organization says brings more than 20 years of public transit and leadership experience to the role.

The announcement came in a Monday, April 20 press release.

Wojcik most recently served as senior manager of bus operations at the Chicago Transit Authority. He began his career at CTA as a bus operator before rising through the ranks. He also spent a decade as a police officer and held a licensed financial advisory role at Prudential Financial.

Wojcik starts Monday, April 27 and will work alongside outgoing COO Kevin Pumphrey for a transitional period.

Pumphrey is retiring after 28 years with MCTS, having started as a bus operator and working his way up through more than a dozen roles.
