MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A village trustee in Menomonee Falls is taking criticism for controversial Facebook posts about social justice rallies.
At a board of trustees meeting Monday night, many residents called for Steve Taggart's resignation.
"You made assumptions about the type of people that would attend this rally," said Menomonee Falls resident Christina Steder. "If you're going to tell me you were making a joke, then what you were doing is behaving like an impulsive bully that calls someone names."
"Perhaps this is a much needed reminder that just because you don't like what someone has to say, does not mean they don't have the right to say it or be censored by it," said resident Paul Moldenhauer.
Taggart's posts accused the school district of being run by "radical communists" among other things.
Taggart claims his comments have been taken out of context.
